Pre-Press for Mark Webber's Art Print, Part Three

The last step before going to press on this project is getting the polymer plate made of the little heart in the middle which is going to be a second color.

1) Here's the negative of the scan made from Part Two then placed on a polymer plate with emulsion on it (orange surface).

2) This fancy platemaker (that also doubles as a time-machine) will work it's magic by exposing the negative with UV light onto the plate material.

3) Then the excess emulsion gets washed (creating the relief of the heart)....

4) Then baked...

5) And after a second exposure to harden the refief... voilĂ ! A plate is made :)
